09/10/11 Huntingdon Town Ladies 1 - 2 Fakenham
A heart wrenching result for Hunts as a ten man Fakenham team grab a win in the last five minutes of the game.  Hunts dominated for large periods and frustrated a Fakenham team who are used to visiting Huntingdon and coming away with three points and several (last season's score was 8-0) goals.  Fakenham took the lead against the run of play when Shelly Woods ran onto a through ball that the hunts defence should have done better against.  Hunts kept in the game though and a Hollie Dare strike from the edge of the box at a corner took them level at half time.  Hunts dominated the second half as Fakenham's ten men tired and fell back onto the long ball tactic.  Hunts meanwhile passed the ball beautifully and played some great one touch football, all that was missing was the elusive winning goal.  Unfortunately this went against the run of play to Fakenham.  Fakenham were awarded a free kick halfway into the hunts half for what the referee saw as a foul on the Fakenham attacker, Hunts protested heavily as they felt that she was not touched.  Fakenham delivered the free kick perfectly to the far post where the same player who was fouled volleyed into the goal.  Hunts pushed hard for the remaining five minutes of the match however it wasn't to be their dayA disappointing result initially however, from a performance point of view Huntingdon can take a lot from this, especially when compared to the way they played against Fakenham a year before.
02/10/11 FA Cup 1st qualifying round Huntingdon Town Ladies 0 - 2 AFC Trinity

A ridulously hot day to be playing football on saw Hunts 11 players struggle against a FC Trinity team who passed the ball well, kept possession and most importantly had subs!  Hunts played well regardless of the heat and POM Jade Horsley looked dangerous every time she attacked down her left wing.  The Hunts defence, with usual left back Laura Melling starting at centre half for the first time, weren't troubled greatly as for all of Trinity's possession they rarely drove into the final third with any real determination.  Trinity scored their first goal in the first half as a corner unfortunately rebounded off of Claire Knox on the post and Laura Gilbey in goal, Knox cleared the ball however the assistant referee deemed that the ball had crossed the line prior to the clearance and the goal stood.  Trinity could have had a second in the first half as their striker took the ball round keeper Gilbey, however failed to pass it into the now open goal.  The Hunts supporters were heard to mutter "Torres" from the sidelines.  Trinity dominated possession in the second half as their extra player in midfield and subs began to take effect, however Hunts keeper Gilbey was rarely called into action as possession didn't turn into chances.  Trinity finally got their second goal with minutes to go as some good passing cut through the hunts defence.
25/10/11 Norwich City Reserves 2 - 1 Huntingdon Town Ladies
Erm I was on holiday in Italy, chilling by the pool and reading a bit of Harry Potter, Hunts were playing incredibly well and ruffled a Norwich team that is used to a much easier game against Huntingdon.  Sian Gamble added to her goal tally and hunts were unfortunate to not get the draw that their work rate deserved.
22/09/11 Hoddleston Owls 1 - 0 Huntingdon Town Ladies League Cup
A great game that hunts should have edged however a messy corner and the good reactions of a Hoddleston striker gave Hoddleston the victory instead.  Hunts worked hard as a team throughout, created chances and were unfortunate to not take the game into extra time.  With the news of manager Seb Cameron's departure before the game the team did incredibly well to keep it together and show solidarity and great team spirit throughout.
15/9/11 Huntingdon Town Ladies 0 - 6 Great Shellford
The scoreline may not reflect the reality of what happened when Hunts and Shellford met on Sunday.  Great Shellford are undefeated in the ERWFL and favourites to be promoted into the Premier division this year and in the first half against Huntingdon they proved why.  They completely dominated the first half and right winger Becky Taylor showed the sort of speed and finishing that is seen in leagues much, much higher than this one.  At half time Hunts were five down and it looked like double figures could be on the cards.  However in the second half Hunts played like a different team, they closed down Shellford, fought for every ball and moved striker Hollie Dare into midfield to stop the supply to Taylor.  Shellford became increasingly frustrated and could only add one to their goal tally as a pass along the Hunts back line was mistimed and jumped upon.  Hunts can hold their heads high after their second half performance though and can build on it in the coming weeks.
8/9/11 Taverham 3 - 0 Huntingdon Town Ladies
An awful game where Hunts played poorly and Taverham simply wanted the victory more.  Hunts have many lessons to learn from this performance and confidence is at an all time low.
1/9/11 Huntingdon Town Ladies 0 - 3 Cambridge Women Reserves
The game that launched a thousand ships.  Hunts were in dominance and had their sights on their first three points of the season when central midfielder Stef Day was sent off for kicking out at a Cambridge Striker.  Hunts fought hard throughout the rest of the game however with ten men against a talented, organised Cambridge side they were simply over powered.  Stef will be a massive loss to the team as she is a player that shone throughout pre-season and a three game ban will hit the team hard.
24/8/11 Haverhill 5 - 1 Huntingdon Town Ladies
Hunts started their season where the last one ended, away to Haverhill.  Hunts were hoping to show how far they had come over the summer, however unfortunately the reverse happened and Haverhill showed their improvement to thrash Hunts 5-1.  Haverhill completely dominated in the first half as their midfield three found themselves with time and space on the ball far too often.  They tore the Hunts defence apart and were 4 up at half time.  Hunts made some personelle changes at halftime and brought Jo Bull into central midfield, she made an important difference stopping the Haverhill midfield's dominance and giving Hunts a stronger platform to build on.  Hunts clawed a goal back from a set play however it was too little too late.

Preseason

14/08/11 Sandy Ladies 1 - 2 Huntingdon Town Ladies
A very exciting game that saw Hunts in the lead for the majority, let their lead slip with 7 minutes to go only to score the winning goal 2 minutes from time.  An excellent win that secured Hunts the Trevor Seldon Memorial Trophey for the second year in a row and topped off an excellent pre-season effort.

11/08/11 Huntingdon Town Ladies 1 - 1 Raunds
Huntingdon recovered from a poor start to the game to retreive a well earned point.  Raunds finished their league in fifth position and showed why in the opening twenty minutes of the game on Thursday night.  Their movement was hard for an unsettled Huntingdon defence to mark and they were confident and strong on the ball.  Huntingdon started the game sluggishly and thoroughly deserved to conceed as Raunds headed in unmarked from a free kick.  Huntingdon settled a further set back when halfway through the first half midfielder Claire Radford had to limp off as the result of a poor Raunds challenge; half time couldn't come soon enough.  Hunts started the second half a lot brighter, they began to work together as a team and as a result the defence was much more organised and the attack more potent.  They grabbed a well fought equaliser from a Rachael Bowd looping shot from the right wing.  Hunts saw out the match without further event and can take a lot from a game where they started poorly yet still managed to get a draw.

07/08/11  Huntingdon Town Ladies 5 - 0 Saffron Walden
Huntingdon Town Ladies took their first meaningful step towards a successful season today by resoundingly beating Saffron Walden 5-0.  Huntingdon dominated the game from the outset and they opened the scoring through winger Jade Horsley who calmly slotted past the keeper.  Sian Gamble doubled the lead shortly afterwards with a long range effort that left the keeper floundering.  Hunts made it three just before half time, with an excellent counter attack from a Walden corner and that striker Hollie Dare expertly finished.  Hunts added another two in the second half, firstly through Dare as she grabbed her second in style by lobbing the keeper from distance and secondly through Rachael Bowd.    Huntingdon put in a solid performance today, the defence was organised, the forwards took their chances well and Saffron Walden didn't have a shot on goal all game.  An excellent foundation to build the rest of the season upon.

04/08/11 Huntingdon Town Ladies 1 - 2 Exning
Hunts put in a solid start in their first preseason friendly even though the end result didn't go their way.  They passed the ball well, looked fit and striker Hollie Dare even bagged her first goal of the season!  A good start to the season with many positives to be taken from the game, hopefully on Sunday the result will go the right way as well!
